Who we are
We’re a Halifax based small business, focused on unique vintage clothing and fabric, as well as handmade and antique items.
Sustainability
Vintage clothing is our small way of being more environmentally conscious, by going back to small fashion and keeping worn or damaged garments out of the landfill.
We make an effort to seek out flawed antique or vintage pieces for repair or upcycling (either for parts or be repurposed) as they are often overlooked in the thrifting process. All repairs are overseen in-house, and are disclosed in item listings for transparency.
The fashion industry accounts for nearly 10% of global emissions, and an ever growing amount of plastic waste in landfills. We believe that a shift back to longer wearing, natural fibre garments is a small step back in the right direction.
A 1950's sheath cut cream brocade beaded wedding dress with a coat overlayer with a Watteau style cape train. The dress is in quite good condition apart from a few rust marks by the zipper and and left shoulder and minor surface wear. The zipper did have to be replaced as the original was too badly damaged to be functional and one of the back appliqués is missing one string of beads, granted in the rear so not so noticeable especially when worn all together. The coat has hooks in the shoulders meant to clip to thread loops on the dress shoulders to avoid slipping.
There is a light blue late 50s union label but no other makers marks, it does appear to be professionally made
The dress is very small, on a size 2 mannequin. It measures 34" bust, 26" waist, 36 hips and 54" long nape of neck to hem. There is a generous amount of material in the skirt hem so can be lengthened if desired.
Please note that these items are vintage, and therefore have a history. They may show signs of previous love/wear which will be noted in the listing. Please keep this in mind when purchasing
