FAQs

Vintage Sizing?

We always include the numerical measurements of garments for sizing given the unreliability of standardized sizes. As anyone who has bought vintage knows, a size 12 of the 1950’s looks more like a 6 today.

If you have any trouble with measurements please let me know and I can troubleshoot or send you a sizing diagram.

Suggested Care Directions for Vintage Clothing/Fabric

Most of our items have been regarded as dry clean only (at the time of their production), but modern dry cleaners tend to not work with “old” items given the risk of damage.

Antique clothing, even if stained, may be restored but at a high cost. There often isn’t much that can be done for items in poor condition, such as those with shattering silk. We disclose this information as much as possible and take extra care in shipping delicate items.

We do not purchase anything which smells, has mould/mildew, but often get items which need airing out from being stored for many years, or small repairs which I see to personally.

Hand washing is always the safest bet, and items like jeans can always be washed in your usual method.

Fibre content of fabrics are listed where known, and laundering/handling should be based on the recommendations about materials.

Wholesale availability

Many of our items are one of a kind, so if the quantity says one, that’s all we have. At most we may get two or three same/similar items, such as hat boxes.

That said, if it is a Pincushion original, multiples can be produced, time and materials permitting.

Return Policy

All sales, once shipped out are generally final. I give a 1-2 day window for processing time. If there is a significant issue within that time, or the item is not at all as described, please contact me and we can come to an arrangement.

I do not accept returns on incorrect fit or condition, as well as on already cut fabric.

The same goes for fabric types and order sizes (i.e. flannel or quilting cotton), as they are clearly described in listings.
