1920's Black Beaded Silk Chiffon Flapper Fringe Dress with Headband
A 1920's black beaded flapper style silk chiffon dress, in good condition. The black velvet headband is reproduction, made with vintage/reclaimed materials.
The dress has a beaded bodice, skirt and detachable belt, which have all undergone beadwork restoration to address damaged areas. The beading is glass tambour work, the hem is trimmed with fringe.
Unfortunately there are some sections of fusible interfacing that were applied by a previous owner to flawed sections of the bodice, as shown. These have been left on to avoid causing further damage during removal.
The headband is fully adjustable, with cotton ties in the back, and the feathers are also detachable, as they sit in a cloth tape pocket when in use. The beadwork appliqué is also vintage and synthetic, likely dating to the 1950's or 60's.
The dress fits a modern size 4-6, but is best suited as a reference piece, given its fragile nature.
