1880’s Black Velvet Medieval Style Bodice
An 1880’s black velvet and silk beaded bodice, in very good condition, but with some areas of wear to both the beading and the fabric.
The front of the bodice is black silk, which has areas of wear, the rest of the bodice is black silk velvet, lined with cream cotton. The bodice is fully boned and flatlined, with exposed seams and darts.
The pink panels are padded cotton bust improvers, a common and original feature of bodices from this era.
It closes with hooks and eyes up center back, and has a drawstring neckline, which ties with a shoelace from the period. The decoration is black lace, jet beads and cut celluloid sequins.
