Late 1940’s Black and Yellow Swing Style Dress with Gathered Skirt
A late 1940’s to early 1950’s black and yellow party dress, in very good condition. There are some scuffs on the skirt, both the lining and outer fabric. There are also two small burn holes as shown. It closes with a metal side zipper.
The skirt has a yellow cotton lining, both layers are separately hemmed.
The bodice has a scalloped neckline and sleeves, with black velvet shoulder pads, suggesting the bodice might have been from an earlier 1940’s dress. The skirt is quite full, and gathered, with piping at the hip line for structure.
The dress is quite small, and fits a modern size 0. It measures 32” bust, 26” waist, free hips. It has 4” grown on sleeves, and is 53” in length.
