1760's 18th C Style Handmade Pink Floral Cotton Pet en L'air Caraco Jacket Bodice and Petticoat Skirt
A handmade 1760's inspired caraco bodice and ruffle trimmed petticoat, inspired by an extant piece in the Manchester Art Gallery. The skirt has pocket slits, and is worn with ties secured around front and back, making it nearly one size fits all. Stays and panniers are shown underneath the garment to archive the correct silhouette.
The bodice closes up the front, with cloth ties, but can also be pinned to avoid gapping. The internal finishing details are hand stitched, the seams are pinked or selvage. The piecing construction is mostly by machine. The bodice is fitted with ties on the inside of the sack back pleating. The armholes are left unfinished as is typical with extant pieces.
The bodice is lined with white lightweight linen fabric.
