1860's Civil War Era Style Pink and White Floral Two Piece Day Dress with Pagoda Sleeves and Trained Skirt
An 1860’s style handmade two piece, front buttoning cotton day dress with a trained skirt. The bodice is flatlined with white cotton broadcloth, the seams are pinked or selvage is left intact. The bodice is shaped with princess seams, and closes with vintage mother of pearl buttons. The skirt is unlined. This is a style from an era meant to be worn with a corset, petticoats, crinoline etc. to achieve the correct silhouette.
The pink braid trim on the bodice is synthetic, and also vintage. The crochet collar is also vintage, and likely made with cotton or synthetic yarn.
The skirt closes in back with hooks and eyes at the waistband. The sleeve inserts are made with white cotton lawn, and are made to be pinned or tacked into the outer sleeves, then removed for laundering.
