1880’s Black Silk Boned Bodice
An 1880’s flatbacked, silk swallowtail bodice, in near excellent condition. The buttons down the curved center front are covered in black crocheted cord, and wooden inside. The intside panel has a row of hooks and eyes, and the bodice is boned at center back and side seams. The boning is encased in the seams, possibly steel, but impossible to know without removing them. The seam allowances are whipstitched and notched as needed.
The material is quite structurally intact, no sign of shattering or fraying. It hooks closed at the collar.
The bodice is shown on a size 2 mannequin, and quite small, obviously fitted with a corset in mind.
