Mid 1830’s Inspired Handmade Red Linen Day Dress with Van Dyke Neckline and Matching Belt
A mid 1830’s inspired handmade red linen day dress, with a Van Dyke point bertha style neckline. The dress closes up the back, with large hooks and eyes.
The belt closes with a vintage replica metal belt buckle buckle.
The puffed/fitted sleeves are based on a pattern in the Workwoman's Guide. The ribbon trim down center front of the bodice is 1930's rayon. Seams are either pinked or the selvage is left on in unlined areas.

The dress is best worn with the correct undergarments to achieve the correct period silhouette (i.e. chemise, corset, corded petticoat, sleeve plumpers etc.)
The dress is all linen with a lightweight white linen bodice lining. The skirt is unlined with a wide horsehair stiffened hem.
This dress fits a modern size 14, and measures 40” bust, 34” waist, hips free, has a 40" skirt, an 8" pit to waist length side seam with 25” long sleeves.
