Recovered Edwardian Pink Dupioni Silk Parasol With Parrot Style Handle
An Edwardian parasol frame, which has a light finish natural wood and cane shaft and with a restored silk cover. The handle of the frame is brass, constructed for a 16 panel canopy, instead of the typical 8-10. The decorative handle is carved in the likeness of an African Grey parrot, it looks like it once had glass eyes which are now missing.
The silk is a lightly slubbed dupioni, in a blush pink. The tassel and cord wrapped around the handle is original
The canopy hem is hand finished, with a narrow rolled hem.
The strap secures with an antique mother of pearl button and repurposed metal ring.
It has sixteen ribs, which measure 18.5” in length. The parasol is 36” in length end to end when closed fully.
