Victorian Whalebone Handled Carriage Style Black and Pink Lined Ruffle Trimmed Parasol
A restored Victorian era carriage parasol, with an ivory shaft/handle.
The original whalebone finial is as shown, with the ring missing/broken off. There is also a crack in the handle, at the hinge as shown. The frame is double hinged.
The ribs are baleen, which suggests this piece dates to the mid 19th century.
The original black taffeta silk canopy has been lightly mended, the lining has been replaced with the pink silk. Both canopies are fully hand stitched.
The parasol measures 24” end to end fully extended, with eight ribs that measure 11” in length.
